When you contact the seller, they require you to give them a deposit before you are allowed to see it. The excuses vary and some can even sound somewhat reasonable like wanting a deposit in case you damage it.
The scam is fairly straightforward from this point. If you give the crooks a deposit, you will never see it again and more than likely, you will never see the motor home either.
Avoid Fraud with RV Dealers
The easiest way to avoid fraud is with an RV dealer. Many have their used RVs available online for your convenience. Additionally, they have a wide range available making choosing your next RV easier.
However, the biggest benefit is the peace of mind. Even when you are buying a used RV for sale by owner, if it is on a lot, you know it is the real deal. A reputable RV dealer will not risk their reputation by pulling a fast one.
